My project throws a spotlight on familiar flowers, revealing them in unexpected and unusual ways. The flowers in this collection are idealised, isolated from time and space, so that viewers can re-discover them with fresh eyes. With COP26 addressing the challenges facing our planet, this is the perfect time to appreciate the wonder and intricacy of the natural world.
Many of the exhibited subjects are not immediately recognisable as flowers. They appear as unfamiliar, colourful living organisms, much like exotic creatures from the deep of a vast ocean.
Though shown isolated from their surroundings, most of the flowers in this collection have been photographed in various parks and public spaces around the U.K. Dimitrios uses a Leica Q as his main camera. He has designed and built bespoke equipment for the lighting and photo stacking techniques used to capture this collection.
We hope that our visitors will be intrigued by this series.
